- Goodwill to create green jobs in Denmark
- 75 foreign goodwill ambassadors will emphasise cleantech in their home countries, which include roughly 30 of the world’s leading metropolises and regions.
This was decided when the ambassadors gathered in Copenhagen at the end of August to celebrate the fifteenth birthday of the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassador Corps. As part of the three-day seminar, one entire day was dedicated solely to the opportunities in the Danish cleantech industry and the branding of Copenhagen as an energy- and environmentally-friendly city. To this end, the goodwill ambassadors brought together key players from the Danish cleantech sector to discuss and identify international branding and foreign direct investment platforms. The purpose was to optimize existing initiatives and identify new promotion campaigns, which will enable the Corps to create value for private and public stakeholders.
- Everybody knows that we need to create green jobs in Denmark and attract international investment to Copenhagen. The goodwill ambassadors have direct access to decision makers from cleantech companies and cluster organizations worldwide and as such play an important role in facilitating this. Within the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassador Corps, a selected group of ambassadors are working specifically to support the global branding of Copenhagen as a leading sustainable city in order to attract green investment, conferences and events to Copenhagen, says Morten King-Grubert, Head of the Goodwill Secretariat.
Global network
The goodwill ambassadors are involved in a wide range of activities, all of which have tremendous value for Copenhagen. They know the core Danish products and technologies and have the ability to reach out to a global network of relevant stakeholders in order to present Copenhagen as a target market. This advantage is now being used to promote Denmark to an even greater degree in the cleantech sector.
- One of the key projects currently being launched is the
Copenhagen International Clean Energy Fair organised by goodwill
ambassador Sven Thy Christensen. The event will take place in 2012
and will be a global meeting place for professionals in the trade
and provide an interchange for clean energy technologies for the
future. Crossing sectors, the event will present the latest
solutions for energy efficiency and clean technology together with
their practical applications, says Morten King-Grubert. Please go

The Goodwill Ambassador Corps was founded by Copenhagen Capacity
and Wonderful Copenhagen and consists of 75 foreign business
executives. They all work voluntarily to raise awareness about
Copenhagen and use their networks to attract investment and thereby
generate employment in Copenhagen. In the spirit of the
anniversary, the corps has made a number of short films about its
activities and Copenhagen.
Cleantech is one of the subjects presented in the short movies,
