Hamburg joins international cleantech network
The newly founded cluster Renewable Energy Hamburg has accepted an invitation to join the International Cleantech Network (ICN). The cluster holds broad competencies within cleantech and a particularly within wind power. The ICN believes that this ambitious new partner will contribute with valuable assets and experiences to the network.

Following a positive dialogue with Copenhagen Capacity's cleantech team, the board of Renewable Energy Hamburg decided to join the ICN. It has long been a goal to have a leading German cluster join, and the eight partners of ICN are happy to be able to welcome Renewable Energy Hamburg at the next ICN meeting, which will be held in October in North Carolina, US.

The green spot of Northern Germany

Hamburg has an internationally recognized green profile holding the title of 'European Green Capital 2011' and has, with the establishment of a renewable energies cluster organization, shown a strong commitment to the continued development and growth of the cleantech industry. The city is already an attractive business location for the renewable energies sector offering a broad array of competencies within  management, administration, engineering, sales and marketing etc. Moreover, the region is home to a variety of universities and research centers conducting research and development within the field of cleantech.

Head of Cleantech Networks at Copenhagen Capacity, Simon Dreyer, explains that ICN, and in particular Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, consider the now formal collaboration with Renewable Energy Hamburg an important gain: "For any cluster, good international relations are essential, and that is why we strengthen all ICN clusters when we welcome a new, proactive partner. But moreover, it is a proven fact that growth in strong clusters has a significant positive influence on the growth of neighboring clusters - this of course being further enhanced by excellent collaboration between the two."

A further description of Renewable Energy Hamburg will soon be available at the ICN website. For now, you can visit their own website (in German, English translation is on its way) here.
