- Frederikssund is open for business
- In April, Copenhagen Cleantech Park in Frederikssund was officially launched by the Minister of Climate & Energy, Lykke Friis. The first customer, Topsil Semiconductor Materials, is already busy building new facilities, but also other cleantech companies are lurking in the wings.
The goal of the park in Frederikssund is to offer international
cleantech companies the best conditions in terms of access to
research, networks and production. Here, both private and public
actors can come together to work on projects, just as educational
and research institutions can contribute with new knowledge to the
park.
- Now we have the framework conditions, infrastructure and
logistics in place for our business park to become a more integral
part of Copenhagen. One of the major advantages of Frederikssund is
that we can accommodate both entrepreneurs as well as large
international companies that can expand and develop their
businesses in cooperation with each other and with the large
research and innovation-intensive knowledge institutions located
nearby. Thus, we are ready to compete with regions such as Hamburg
and Stockholm, which are also going green, Peter Bo Andersen,
Director of Business Frederikssund, explains.
One park for all
Eventually, it is envisaged that the park should develop into a
city with room for 14,000 residents in 6,000 homes and 6,000 jobs
offered by the park's companies, which get 350 acres of land to
play with - all equipped with energy from renewable sources.
- With only 30 minutes to Copenhagen and 40 minutes to the airport,
the park is an attractive option for families and businesses. We
see ourselves as a part of Copenhagen with the opportunities the
city has to offer, and with a membership of Copenhagen Cleantech
Cluster, all actors in the park will be hooked up to all the
possibilities the cluster provides as well. Thus, participating
companies become part of very unique network which they cannot find
elsewhere, Peter Bo Andersen says.
