- ICN builds bridges to Asian and Italian clusters
- International Cleantech Network (ICN) is expanding, and welcomes both a strong Italian cluster and the first Asian cluster in ICN, the latter having already reached out to all ICN partners and thus proved ICN a beneficial bridge between clusters.
Having recently welcomed the strong North Italian cluster, Lombardy Energy Cluster, ICN is now pleased to also welcome the Singapore Sustainability Alliance (SSA) as a new partner.
Italian experience
Seventh cleantech cluster to join the ICN, Lombardy Energy
Cluster entered the network only a few weeks before the Singaporean
partner.
Located around Milan, Lombardy Energy Cluster comprises companies
within industries such as power plants, transmission &
distribution, nuclear power plants and a range of renewable energy
sources, and in its work, Lombardy Energy Cluster emphasises the
importance of creating an integrated supply chain within different
fields of energy plant investment.
Singaporean ambitions
ICN is pleased to also welcome the first Asian cluster to join ICN. Only recently represented through a formal cluster association, Singapore has, however, long been the chosen location of a range of strong companies within the fields of environmental and renewable energy. To enhance the positive spill-over effects in the cluster even further and to enable the companies in the cluster to take part in the beneficial international collaboration conducted in ICN, the official association - the Singapore Sustainability Alliance - was formed.
The vision of the SSA is to develop Singapore into a leading regional and global hub in sustainability solutions and adoption of sustainable business practices.
Mutual benefits
Acting as a bilateral as well as a multilateral bridge, the ICN collaboration enables all partners to get a better insight into what competencies are to be found in the respective clusters and to establish strong networks to these. The Singaporean cluster has already shown great proactivity in putting to use this ability of ICN by directly inviting special guests to important international events held in the region.
To the Danish cleantech actors, the expansion of ICN thus immediately creates new opportunities for businesses:
- To keep developing the cleantech business in Denmark, it is essential that we continue to collaborate with all those places around the world where technology of the future is being invented and developed - even though we are skilled, we are not going to invent it all by ourselves, Simon Dreyer, Head of Cleantech Networks and co-founder of ICN at Copenhagen Capacity states.
The two new clusters will have a chance to meet the rest of the ICN partners by mid-June when the next ICN Manager's Meeting is held in Bilbao. At this occasion, Danish players interested in meeting the ICN partners will be invited to a range of relevant activities along with players from all the ICN clusters.
If you are interested in hearing more about this option or signing up for participating, please contact Simon Dreyer, Head of Cleantech Networks at Copenhagen Capacity.
