Copenhagen is global cleantech leader
The Danish capital is ranked number one on a newly released ranking of the ten most leading cleantech cities when it comes to “warm atmosphere for cleantech to expand and enable more to use renewable energy and energy efficient products”. The Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, CCC, is attributed a great amount of importance in the further development of Copenhagen and the Øresund Region.

Behind the ranking is Shawn Lesser, Co-founder & Managing Partner of Atlanta-based Watershed Capital Group - an investment bank assisting sustainable funds and companies raise capital, perform acquisitions, and in other strategic financial decision. Lesser is also co-founder of the Global Cleantech Cluster Association, GCCA, and a key figure in the global cleantech community.

- This shows that our focus on green technologies and climate solutions in Denmark is the right path to global sustainability and national growth. We have the competencies and the legal framework to develop new technologies fast, and at the same time, we are leading within test and demonstrations facilities. These factors combined attract major companies from around the world, create more jobs in Denmark and secure Danish growth and green sustainability, which will maintain Denmark's position as a global leader, says Michael Johansen from the Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster.

Shawn Lesser describes Copenhagen as:

Copenhagen has made it public that by 2025, they want to be the first carbon-neutral capital. This goal is achievable based on Copenhagen's long-standing tradition of research, development, and investment in clean technologies. It is home to the  Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, one of the largest global clusters dedicated to providing necessary business conditions to aid cleantech research, development and implementation, the "Sundial," which is the first fully-carbon neutral building in Denmark, and the  International Solid Waste Association. There is also the mandatory green roof policy and  Copenhagen Climate Council.
