- First company to locate in the Copenhagen Cleantech Park
- The company Topsil Semiconductor Materials A / S will be the first company to set up in the big Copenhagen Cleantech Park. The reason is space requirements and high expectations for the park's future potential. Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster sees the establishment as the first important step.
Ultra-pure silicon wafers used in semi-conductors, for example
in wind turbines and other machinery, have made Topsil leading
within its field. The company has grown and need more space. As
such, a new factory will soon emerge in the Cleantech Park
Frederikssund, where it will be the park's first participant.
Head of Secretariat in Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, CCC, Nicolai
Rottbøll, welcomes Topsil's commitment to the Cleantech Park.
- Topsil as a significant player within its field and will
undoubtedly help to attract others to the park. In relation to
CCC's work, it will also help to get closer to the goal of creating
1,000 jobs over the next few years, so it is a nice first step on
the road, Nicolai Rottbøll states.
Good synergies
Topsil's new facility will cover approximately 5,000m2, which is
1/3 more than today, and more square meters can be added if and
when needed. In a press release, Topsil stresses the possible
synergies which can be created in the Cleantech Park, where it is
only natural for Topsil to be located, as their silicon wafers are
one of the answers to how energy can be used better. In addition,
the environmental considerations and improvements are included as
natural elements in the new factory, including the investment in an
environmentally friendly refrigeration system, and also excess heat
from the factory will be used to warm it up, Managing Director of
Topsil, Keld Lindegaard Andersen, writes.
The Topsil Group has a Danish head office and consists of Topsil
Semiconductor Materials A / S, Frederikssund and the subsidiary
Cemat Silicon SA in Warsaw, Poland, which was acquired in 2008. The
total number of employees is approximately 400, and the group's
turnover in 2009 amounted to 423.5 million DKK.
