Promising second meeting in ICN
The second meeting in ICN brought together five clusters expressing their visions for the international collaboration and formulating concrete work packages to reach these aims.

The 1st of February 2011 Colorado, USA, hosted the second manager meeting in the International Cleantech Network (ICN).

The participants were from the clusters in North Carolina, Colorado, Denmark, Norway and Spain.

The objective of the international meeting was to agree on certain key areas on which the clusters can benefit from commencing cooperation, and to specify concretely how this work is to be initialized and carried out.

Results

At the meeting, eight work packages were set up within the areas of matchmaking, analysis, exchange programs and education and communication, all which will be worked on across the clusters.

The goal is to enhance the cooperation cluster to cluster when working on the packages, as to reach results beneficial for the stakeholders in the respective clusters.

Within the matchmaking area, the network wishes to arrange matchmaking activities across the clusters between companies, universities and local authorities.

The analysis work package will mainly focus on the visual profiling of test and demonstration facilities in ICN clusters, Supply Chain Study and development of a universal cluster description tool.

Stressing the importance of increasing the educational level of students within cleantech and thereby increasing the pool of talents for the companies to recruit from, it was decided at the meeting to work on creating an ICN scholarship for students sponsored by one or more companies in the clusters.

Along with this, the meeting participants agreed on working to evolve internship programs for students and begin the mapping of cleantech competences at universities in the ICN regions.

Moving forward

To underpin the work outlined at the meeting, the ICN aims at efficiently communicating the results internally and externally.

The last work package consists of a series of journalistic articles for international as well as local use, describing the work of ICN. The first article is facilitated by Copenhagen Capacity's Cleantech Network (CCCN).

During the process of the work within the package frames, results will continuously be published at the ICN homepage. All clusters are invited to participate in the sharing of news, and are welcome to contact the project management team of CCCN for further information on how to publish news.

Home again from Colorado, the five clusters are now to commence the prospective work. Concrete results with beneficial effects for the clusters' stakeholders are soon to be brought to the table - the next Cluster Managers Meeting is held in Bilbao, Spain on June 14th-16th 2011.
