EU gives go-ahead to Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster
Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster has received an official pledge on EU funds and has thus been given the go-ahead for the largest Danish Structural Funds project ever.

A proud and delighted Head of Secretariat from Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster (CCC), Mr. Nicolai Sederberg Rottbøll, recently announced that the EU funds CCC had been expecting to receive had now officially been pledged.

The funds make CCC the largest European Union Structural Funds project ever committed to in Denmark. The project now totals exactly DKK 143 million, which also makes it the largest Scandinavian cluster initiative in the field of cleantech. Half of the money comes from structural funds and the other half is sponsored by the partners themselves.

Broad based co-operation

The project, which has been made possible by the regions of Zealand and Copenhagen and a unique set of partners from the private sector as well as the research community, shows a broad, joint commitment and a desire to work together on the creation of green growth in the region:

"Denmark may never be able to compete with countries like China or the US on a financial scale - but what we can and will do is work together much more closely than any other place in the world", Nicolai Sederberg Rottbøll states and continues:

"As a follow-up on the large international attention achieved during COP15, the co-operation to create jobs and growth and attract large investments within the cleantech sector now begins on Zealand as well as in the rest of Denmark."

Five key commitment areas

The cluster project is focused on the foundation of an increased collaboration within five key commitment areas Nicolai Sederberg Rottbøll elaborates:

- Test & Demonstration, to ensure access to thorough research and full scale demonstration.

- Matchmaking, connecting organisations to the right projects and people.

- International Outreach, connecting the cleantech cluster with clusters abroad.

- Innovation & Entrepreneurship, turning green ideas into business projects.

- Facilitating projects, keeping people and businesses up to date.

The gravity and ambition of the project is underlined by the fact that Mr. Anders Eldrup, CEO of DONG Energy, has been appointed chairman of the board of CCC.

CCC extends open invitation

CCC will celebrate its secured funding and thus the official opening of the initiative on Wednesday 14 April 2010 at Copenhagen University.

This is also an open invitation to companies and organisations wishing to be a part of CCC.
