Risø DTU will put a new test method for solar cells in production
Risø DTU will put a newly developed test platform for plastic solar cells in production. In collaboration with LS Control, the new test platform will change from being a prototype to a production ready 0-series. The two partners met each other through Risø DTU’s business network.

These years, many universities and companies work to create efficient and cheap plastic solar cells, the so-called third generation solar cells. This means a shift from a few handmade laboratory cells to very large series, produced by machines. It requires a lot of testing, but existing tests are time-consuming and demanding. Therefore, scientists from the Solar Energy Programme at Risø have developed a faster and better test method.

-For quite a while, we have been annoyed by the slowness of the test phases of our own production of plastic solar cells. Therefore, Professor Frederik C. Krebs decided to develop an all-inclusive and faster test solution. The result was a method that was many times faster and at the same time also easier to use, explains Torben Damgaard Nielsen, Innovation and Business Developer at Risø DTU.
