CCC to participate in world’s biggest Energy Summit
Leading world players are meeting at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi to share the latest know-how and technologies within renewable energy. And Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster is taking part in order to establish contacts and maintain Copenhagen’s position on the international stage.

One month on from the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen, the global energy caravan is moving on to warmer climes. This time, however, without all the political baggage and its focus on final agreements. The World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi is a showcase for technological expertise and know-how within renewable energy. The Energy Summit is aimed at manufacturers, investors, corporate decision-makers and purchasers, and has within a short period of time established itself as the biggest trade fair of its kind in the world.

Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster will be present as part of a large, shared Danish stand to establish new collaborative contacts and gain an insight into the potential solutions which other countries can contribute.

"Participation in this event gives us vital access to an important network," explains Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster consultant Simon Dreyer. "As a new cluster, it is imperative for us to quickly establish the contacts that are of interest to the members of the cluster and thus generate the activity and dynamism necessary to develop Danish products, enter into international cooperation agreements and maintain Copenhagen's position as a centre for the world's sustainable energy"

He will be accompanied in Abu Dhabi by the head of CCCs' secretariat, Nicolai Rottbøll, and the chairman of the cluster and CEO of Danish utilities company DONG Energy, Anders Eldrup, who is also one of the keynote speakers at the event.

The event, described by the New York Times as the renewable energy sector's equivalent of the World Economic Forum meetings in Davos, was attended last year by 615 exhibitors from 87 countries and attracted almost 20,000 visitors - a figure that is expected to increase this year. The event is to be held in Masdar, the world's first carbon-neutral, zero-waste city, which has been built from scratch in the desert of Abu Dhabi and was recently named to host the International Renewable Energy Agency.
