CCC’s innovation platform for a digital infrastructure for smart cities
Access to different forms of information and data is key to an intelligent city – but what kinds of information should a digital infrastructure contain? And what types of business models should be developed for the infrastructure to function?

Access to public data on transportation, energy consumption, water conditions and a range of other information is a vital cornerstone in building the smart cities of the future. Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster therefore established an Innovation platform in October 2011 to help determine how a common digital infrastructure can be developed to enable solutions for smart cities. Knowledge institutions, potential clients of building projects and companies - across all industries - are invited to participate with ideas on content to help shape the blueprint for a digital infrastructure.

The work is focused on developing a solid base that consists of data and information that can be accessed freely in order to create smart city solutions for existing cities as well as new cities and neighbourhoods. A large building project taking place in Copenhagen at the moment is the development of Nordhavn, a new neighbourhood that will house 40.000 citizens and just as many office spaces.

The work on the innovation platform is also focused on identifying new business models where new kinds of partnerships will take form to take advantage of a new digital infrastructure and the services that can be offered.

The Innovation platform has to show results quickly

The aim of the work on the innovation platform, is to compile relevant material that can be used by potential clients of building projects as the foundation for their call for tender when they want to establish a digital infrastructure.

What is your company's need for data?

We invite anyone from the private sector, academia or as clients of building projects to participate in shaping what the digital infrastructure of future cities should look like. You will be able to participate in determining which data are necessary to innovate and create new intelligent solutions within the areas energy consumption, waste management, transportation and water management - for Nordhavn, for your own city, or for the rest of the world. If you already are involved in projects focusing on developing a digital infrastructure for smart city solutions, you are welcome to work together with us towards the common goal. We are happy to hear from you.
