CCC initiative opens the door to the American Smart Grid
In 2010, Danish companies exported green technologies worth nine million kroner to the U.S., which is particularly advanced in the development of Smart Grid. Now, CCC is providing an opportunity for Danish companies to get an insight into this key market and establish contacts for future collaborative projects.

From 24th-26th October, a business delegation from Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster (CCC) will be going to North Carolina to watch over the U.S. Smart Grid industry's shoulder, develop contacts and create networks with eight of the world's other leading cleantech clusters.

- North Carolina is recognized as one of the world's leading centres for the development of Smart Grid and with companies like ABB, Cisco Systems, Delta Electronics, IBM, Siemens and Schneider, it is home to a unique group of knowledge-intensive companies. We have high expectations that the Danish Smart Grid industry will be a leading global player in the future, and therefore the U.S. and especially North Carolina, is one of the most important places for Danish companies to measure themselves against, says Nicolai Sederberg Rottbøll, Head of Secreteriat at CCC.

Through the International Cleantech Network (ICN), CCC is collaborating with eight other major cleantech clusters in Singapore, Austria, Norway, Spain, Italy, Colorado, Hamburg and North Carolina to develop, strengthen and create value for the more than 1,500 stakeholders in the clusters.

Important green hub

Besides the large number of leading companies, North Carolina is home to specialized R & D centres, research universities, supportive government and non-profit agencies. An important part of this tour will therefore be to visit established Smart Grid projects, connect with the right actors and set up personal meetings.

- Smart Grid is a global development, and CCC is working very hard to identify and engage in as many projects as possible. Both public and private stakeholders in North Carolina are very keen to develop the industry. In combination with the generally very ambitious green targets set by the American government, Danish companies have every reason to have high expectations of the U.S. market in the future. This tour can provide additional contacts and the insight needed to take us a few steps forward, says Nicolai Sederberg Rottbøll.

The tour is free for Danish CCC stakeholders. However, travel and accommodation costs are not covered.
