- Accelerace helped Abeo attract necessary investor
- CCC has helped Abeo, a small entrepreneurial company specialized in patented Super-Light Structures, to bridge the gap between idea and commercialization and attract further funding from SEED Capital.
Accelerace, run by CCC partner Symbion, made a difference for
Abeo, a company recognized for products with great potential for
construction and architects worldwide. Abeo A/S is a small
entrepreneurial company with a unique product: Super lightweight
concrete. The invention of lightweight concrete entails a reduction
in material use (including steel reinforcement) which leads to
significant costs and CO2 reductions.
The Accelerace program was a valuable help for the Abeo-team in
turning the invention of super lightweight concrete into a business
with true commercial potential. This was recently acknowledged by
the venture capital company SEED Capital which invested 1.5 million
€ to develop Abeo further. The money will be used for up scaling
the business including the hire of two new employees.
"The Accelerace program has provided a solid ground for us to
transform invention into commercial potential and triggered Abeo
A/S as a professional and ambitious player in our segment. The
ability to attract capital is crucial for a company like ours to
enable us to penetrate the very well established, existing market
for concrete. With SEED capital we increase the probability of
realizing our vision of entering the market internationally," says
Mads Løntoft, Abeo A/S.
Vast potential
Abeo's potential is vast given the fact that concrete is used
more than any other man-made material in the world. Abeo's goal is
to make Super-Lightweight Structures the first and natural choice
for builders and contractors as well as engineers and architects.
Abeo was last year named the world's most promising cleantech
business by "World Cleantech", held in Silicon Valley, USA.
"Abeo is a strong proof of what Accelerace can do for start-up
companies. It is crucial for the Danish economy and the climate and
environment in general that start-up companies get the appropriate
help to move onwards from the brilliant ideas they are based on,"
says Peter Torstensen, CEO of Symbion.
Abeo A/S was founded in June 2010 to commercialize the patented
building technology Super-Light Structures invented by Kristian
Hertz, Professor at The Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
