Cleantech activities in Region Zealand

Since the start of 2007, Region Zealand has launched more than 30 different climate, energy and environmental activities The activities are co-funded with more than 164 million DKK (22 mio. EUR), which includes funding from the regional council, the EU Structural Funds and the participating parties. This means that these projects are contributing to the Lisbon objectives of sustainable growth, competitiveness and employment.

Even before the current interest in cleantech arose, Region Zealand conducted an assessment of the region, which indicated very significant competencies and opportunities within the areas of climate, energy and environment. Therefore, development of business within these areas remains central for the strategy of the Regional Growth Forum Sjælland - the regional business council for Region Zealand.

Another obvious reason for our interest in the field is that the region harbours a serious concern about the climate challenges and the challenges of ensuring the future of energy.  Something must be done at all levels, be that global, national or regional - and this offers new opportunities for businesses, because there is a growing market for environmental solutions. Therefore, Region Zealand has chosen to focus on climate solutions in all forms, with emphasis on projects that are directly related to the market. While it is important to us that we develop good ideas and projects, it is equally important that these ideas are realized so they can make a real difference on the fields and in the market.
